The ongoing insurgency in Balochistan witnessed yet another deadly escalation as the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) launched a Fidayee (suicide) attack on a Pakistani military convoy in Noshki, resulting in 90 casualties. The attack, which took place on March 15, 2025, underscores the growing intensity of the Baloch insurgency against the Pakistani state. The BLA, one of the most prominent separatist groups operating in the region, has claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that it was a response to continued military operations and human rights abuses committed by Pakistani forces in Balochistan.
The attack occurred in the Noshki district of Balochistan, a region that has been a focal point of insurgent activities for decades. According to initial reports, a convoy of Pakistani military personnel was targeted by a suicide bomber, followed by a coordinated ambush by heavily armed BLA militants. The attack happened on the Pak-Afghan Highway, a crucial supply route for Pakistani forces. A suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the convoy, leading to a massive explosion. As the surviving soldiers attempted to regroup, BLA fighters launched a coordinated gun assault, using automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs). The attack resulted in at least 90 deaths, including high-ranking military officials and dozens of soldiers. The BLA claimed responsibility for the attack through a statement, asserting that it was a retaliation against military operations in Balochistan.
