A recent controversy sparked amid the test as Tulsi Gabbard is nominated for being the Intelligence chief, US Intelligence community by the elected president of the USA Donald Trump. Which is composed of 18 agencies which includes the FBI and CIA. And would also advice the president on security issues.
Tulsi Gabbard has a vast military background claiming that she has served in the military for around 20 years. If we see the background of Tulsi Gabbard a serious shift has been noticed. Starting, she is an American politician and military officer since 2021, she has also served as US representative for Hawaii’s second district from 2013 -21. She also has a past with the Democratic party and she left the Democratic party in 2022 and joined The Republican Party in 2024. Gabbard generally became known for her stand against Islamic terrorism and her opposition to US Military intervention in the Syrian civil war.

She has been often speculated regarding her not standing firm with her statements. One such is, in the year 2019 an interview with MSNBC, she said, “Assad is not the enemy of the United States because Syria does not pose a direct threat to the United States.” In a subsequent interview on CNN, she said “There are brutal dictators in the world. Assad of Syria is one of them.”

She is also claimed to have a soft corner for Russia. Sources say, Tulsi Gabbard has gone for secret meetings with Syria’s president and Russian officials. According to reports, she has also commented on Russia in past that has gained significant appraisal in Russian news.
Russia and USA are not a good ally and are not at goods terms with each other and also stand as potential threat against each other. This relation if confirmed can cause serious harm to the US intelligence and also weaken the nation. Recently, a question was asked about her past statement relating to Snowden, a former National Security Agency contractor who leaked documents about mass surveillance programmes in the US government and she did not give a clear answer rather chose to give a complex answer has against speculated concerns among the law makers and officials from both the parties regarding her dedication and truthfulness and what is going to happen if she is appointed as the Intelligence Chief.
