MODI TO MEET TRUMP THIS FEBRUARY

Recently, PM Modi and the US President Donald Trump had a detailed discussion on call. Trump spoke the reporters on board on Airforce 1 and confirmed that the two leaders may have a meeting in February,2025. PM Modi last visited the US to meet Trump was in the year 2019. And in the year 2022, Donald Trump visited India and had a meeting with PM Modi in Ahmedabad. Back then, the two leaders had a brief discussion related to security and the challenges ahead for both the nations.

After Trump’s confirmation about their meeting this February, it is assumed that PM Modi may visit the US after 11^th February as the PM is to visit an AI summit in Paris that is scheduled between 10^th and 11^th February,2025.

India’s external affairs minister S. Jaishankar had a meeting with Marco Rubio (US Secretary of

of States) soon after the oath ceremony of Donald Trump on 20^th January,2025.

Amidst the circulating buzz about the meeting between these two world leaders, experts are speculating about a lot of topics to be discussed that can be discussed between the two leaders in their February meeting. Some of the significant topics that may be discussed are:

1. Security concerns: India has been facing some serious security issues as some of the neighboring countries are causing serious issues for India and they are not having a good diplomatic relation with India. Bangladesh is one of the many nations with those problems.
2. Defense equipment: Earlier, Donald Trump stressed on India to buy more defense equipment in order to strengthen the country’s security.
3. Investments: Investments are a major topic as, The US is one of largest investors in Indian markets in terms of foreign Direct investment.
4. Trading partner: India is US’s 7^th largest trading partner, trading in recent times has gained significant importance for a country’s GDP and its significant growth. India being of the proven leaders of trading with the US, this may be a topic of concern.
5. Geo political issues: Trump and Modi have been strategic partners from a very long time. Various Geo political issues can be discussed in the upcoming meeting. Issues relating to Bangladesh crisis and security of the state, issues related to Myanmar and Chinese aggression towards India are some heightened matters at present.

Other than these mentioned topics, there are various topics such as the relations with China, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Technological policies and many more and that are to be known after the leaders speak to the media.
