Zelenskyy rejects Trump’s pitch for mineral transfer

Zelenskyy has visited the Munich Security Conference in Germany. There, the Trump administration has proposed a deal that insists the Ukrainian PM sign a deal with the US government officials which would allow the USA to have 50% ownership of Ukrainian rare earth metals.
As per reports, Zelenskyy has asked the aid department to reject the proposal made by the USA in relation to rare earth minerals. As per Zelenskyy, the deal proposed by the USA is not something that protects the interests of Ukraine. He said, “I didn’t let the ministers sign a relevant agreement because in my view it is not ready to protect us, our interest”.
In response to the rejection, an official from the USA said, “Binding economic ties with the United States will be the best guarantee against future aggression and an integral part of lasting peace. The U.S. recognizes this, the Russians recognize this, and the Ukrainians must recognize this”.
