Besides India being surrounded by a number of enemies from its neighbourhood, Japan is another such country that is surrounded by enemies that pose a serious threat to its security. Meanwhile, Japan has recently announced its newest development in defence equipment- the Hyper Velocity Gliding Projectile. The Hypersonic Glide Projectile is equipped with a warhead which can move at a speed of more than 5 times the speed of sound. The estimated range of the Block-1 is approximately 210 to 621 miles. Though the Block-2 is under development, this variant is expected to be of greater frequency.
At present, the missile tested was from land, but it remains unclear that the fired medium could be changed. Masashi Murano from Hudson Institute’s Japan chair has described the weapon as a short-range ballistic missile equipped with a re-entry vehicle that can manoeuvre at hypersonic speed. The ongoing research on ballistic missiles is expected to end within 2025. Japan announced the development of a domestic defence industry by 2% of GDP by 2027. The Japanese government has decided to sign some big deals to ensure the national security of Japan and its Islands as China, North Korea and Russia pose a serious threat to Japan’s existence as these countries show major interest in Japan’s islands. At times various missiles are being fired from China and North Korea that surpass Japan’s borders without previous notice or warning.
History shows Japan’s development in military and other sectors despite being completely devastated after World War 2. The USA has been one of Japan’s most reliable allies. n 1951, the USA and Japan signed a Mutual Security Treaty that was renewable and said to deploy US troops into Japan for a period of 10 years until Japan gained full sovereignty.

In the year 1960, Japan renewed the treaty with The USA and The USA had its first-ever permanent military base in any Asian country.
In November 2001, The Japanese forces were deployed in the Indian Ocean to support US troops in Afghanistan. This was the first overseas operation in the history of Japan’s military.
2003- Japan’s military was sent to Iraq to support Iraq’s post-war reconstruction.

2015- Japan’s military announced its operation to take place in operations in order to defend its allies but on reasonable grounds and limits.
Currently, Japan is focused primarily on investing in Force resilience, New joint command, and Developing integrated operational planning.
Varus joint development projects are being conducted by Japan and China in Washington primarily on Ballistic missile test and Space development.
In Japan, projects related to repairing America’s defence equipment and ships are being conducted. This has a significant meaning that Japan is developing day by day and stronger in case of military standing as a barrier to potential threats such as China, North Korea and Russia.
